President Erdoğan will attend the 16th BRICS Leaders Summit, aiming for economic solidarity instead of political unity and forming an alternative to the global economic order. The use of local currencies in trade among members is a key goal. BRICS is bringing together leaders for the 16th time, with this year's summit taking place in the capital of Tatarstan, Kazan, from October 22-24. President Erdoğan will also participate in the summit. Alongside the expansion of the union, topics such as finance, technology, and food trade are on the agenda. Established in 2010, the interest in the formation from Turkey is increasing. Originally founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, BRICS has expanded over the years, with Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates also becoming members. With 10 members, the population of BRICS countries is approximately 3.5 billion, representing 45% of the world population. These countries account for about 25% of the global economy and produce 44% of the world's crude oil. BRICS is considered a geopolitical rival to the G7 formed by Western powers, representing developing countries in the transition to a multipolar world order.
