464,585 Turkish Lira fine imposed on the bus company causing environmental pollution by entering the Kızılırmak River
A video on social media showing a long-distance passenger bus entering the Kızılırmak River near the Kızılırmak Delta, which is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List and only used for sightseeing tours, sparked outrage. An investigation was initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change in Samsun Province. The individuals who entered the river with a bus and placed tables and chairs in the water for a photo op were identified by the police and gendarmerie 2 kilometers away from the Bafra Çetinkaya Bridge. An inspection in the area revealed that the vehicle caused environmental pollution. A fine of 464,585 Turkish Lira was imposed on the bus company for causing harm to the environment under the Environmental Law.
