Antalya Diplomacy Forum Hosted a Panel on Embracing Diplomacy in a Divided World
NEST Congress Center in the Belek Tourism Area, the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which TRT was the official communication sponsor of, held a Leaders Panel titled 'Embracing Diplomacy in a Divided World.' Moderated by Andrea Sanke, the panel featured the 79th President of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Philemon Yang, the President of Sierra Leone Julius Maada Bio, and former President of Slovenia Borut Pahor. Yang emphasized the need for collaboration in solving global issues, stating that no country can tackle these problems alone if the multilateral system fails. He acknowledged the criticisms directed at the UN but highlighted its unparalleled mission in human history. Pahor pointed out the shift in the international system from multilateralism to sovereign states prioritizing their own interests, expressing the inadequacy of the UN Security Council's structure in resolving global crises. Bio called for urgent reform in the international system, stating that the current system no longer serves as a trusted forum for all, emphasizing the importance of dialogue in resolving conflicts. The panelists collectively stressed the importance of diplomacy, dialogue, and a more inclusive global system for sustainable peace.
