According to Xinhua agency, the Philippines Air Force, coast guard teams, and 30 fire brigades have arrived at the scene to control the fire. The Manila Office of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management announced that the fire was extinguished at 14:00 local time. Alejandro Ramos from the Manila Fire Department reported that the fire, which left 2,000 families homeless, broke out in the early hours of the morning, with around 1000 houses reduced to ashes. Ramos stated that strong winds blowing from the bay caused the fire to spread rapidly, making it difficult to control the fire in narrow streets. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
