Heightened Security Measures in Place for Election Security in the US

According to the Washington Post, local officials across the country have taken strict measures ahead of the presidential election. Security cameras have been installed around polling places and vote counting centers, with sharpshooters stationed on their roofs. Additional police teams have been deployed on the streets and surveillance has been intensified with drones. In Washington and Nevada states, national guards are on standby in case of any disturbance. Panic buttons have been installed in voting booths to enhance ballot security. Following the storming of the Capitol building on January 6, 2021, by far-right groups and supporters of former President Donald Trump, security measures have been heightened to prevent any similar incidents.
