According to the news of The Times of Israel, Defense Minister Katz approved the army's invasion plan on Gaza after a meeting with the bloody Chief of General Staff Zamir and army staff about the occupation of the city. Defense Minister Katz also approved the preparations for the displacement of approximately 1 million Palestinians to the south of the region as part of the city's occupation plan. The Israeli army previously initiated attacks on Gaza under the operation named 'Gideon's War Machines II'. After breaking the ceasefire on March 18, Israel started the attacks named 'Gideon's War Machines' on May 17 to expand and make the occupation of the Gaza Strip permanent. The Israeli army, preparing for the occupation of Gaza city, has decided to call up 60,000 reserve soldiers. All reserve soldiers to be called up are not expected to participate in the assault on Gaza, but if the attacks continue, the number of reserve soldiers in the army is expected to reach 130,000. The decision was made after Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir presented the plan to invade Gaza city to Defense Minister Yisrael Katz. The Israeli Security Cabinet approved a plan to occupy the northern part of Gaza city on August 8. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in an interview before a cabinet meeting that they aimed to occupy the entire Gaza Strip. The plan involves relocating approximately one million Palestinians to the south in the first stage, besieging the city, and occupying it after intense attacks. The second stage envisages the occupation of the refugee camps in the center of Gazawhich have largely turned into rubble. Israel occupied the Gaza Strip for 38 years from 1967 to 2005. Today, the Gaza Strip, where approximately 2.4 million Palestinians live, has been under a heavy blockade for 18 years.
