Karabakh massacre suspect confesses to opening fire on civilians

15 people, including the political and military authorities of the so-called administration in Karabakh, are being tried at the Baku Heavy Criminal Court. The last hearing on Friday began with the testimony of Azerbaijanis who witnessed the genocide and mass killings in the town of Khojaly and surrounding villages. Footage related to the massacre was then shown to the court. During his interrogation, the suspect Madat Babayan admitted that he had been ordered by his superiors to open fire on civilians. He confessed that he had carried out this order. The suspects, who were captured during the anti-terrorism operations launched by the Azerbaijani army in Karabakh on September 19, 2023, are held responsible for the murders and torture committed in the region during the occupation period. The next hearing will be held on April 21.
