Mistakenly Deported, Now Being Brought Back to the U.S. for Trial

According to information obtained by ABC News, the Trump administration is bringing back Garcia, who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador after being arrested in Maryland where he lived with his family, to the United States. Sources speaking to the news channel shared that the Trump government claims the 29-year-old Salvadoran, whom they allege is a member of the MS-13 gang, will face various charges in the U.S. for allegedly transporting undocumented immigrants. According to sources speaking on condition of anonymity, an indictment consisting of two charges was secretly presented in a federal court in Tennessee last month, accusing Garcia of transporting undocumented immigrants from Texas to the interior of the country for years. The indictment alleges that Garcia has been secretly transporting thousands of undocumented immigrants from Mexico and Central America to the interior of the U.S., including children, for 10 years. In addition, sources close to the investigation claim that members of the MS-13 gang were also brought to the U.S. with Garcia. Despite a court decision against him, the 29-year-old Salvadoran immigrant Garcia was sent to the Center for the Study and Control of Terrorism (CECOT) in El Salvador on March 15 by the Trump administration. The defense file presented to the court by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on April 1 stated that 'Garcia was deported to El Salvador on March 15 due to an administrative error.' It was claimed that Garcia could not be brought back because he is now being held in a prison in El Salvador. Federal judge Paula Xinis in Maryland ruled on April 4 that Garcia's deportation was illegal and ordered him to return to the U.S. Another federal judge also ordered on April 11 that immediate information be given about Garcia's whereabouts and that he be brought back. Meanwhile, the Trump administration argued that federal courts do not have the authority to order Garcia's return to the U.S.
