According to a report based on an unnamed security source in the English edition of Haaretz newspaper, officials from the International Red Cross expressed their anger at the treatment of Palestinian prisoners by the Israel Prison Service during their release from Negev Prison. The Red Cross was particularly upset by the painful way in which the Palestinian prisoners were handcuffed with their hands behind their backs. The released Palestinian prisoners also stated in their initial remarks that the Israeli authorities had kept them hungry and subjected them to severe beatings before their release. In the fourth round of the prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel, 183 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons were released in exchange for 3 Israeli civilians in Gaza Strip.
