Tanker Overturned and Caught Fire on the Highway, Creating a 5-Kilometer Vehicle Queue

TAG Motorway in the center of Sarıçam district, Şahintepe neighborhood, a fuel-loaded tanker driven by Hasan Taşdemir overturned, went out of control, and caught fire. The driver of the burning tanker was rescued by the District Police Department officers passing by the scene. The driver, Taşdemir, who was lightly injured in the arm, was taken to the hospital for control. Upon reporting the incident, gendarmerie and Metropolitan Municipality fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene. After the gendarmerie team closed the road to traffic and took security measures, the fire brigade intervened with 10 tankers and 8 fire trucks to extinguish the burning vehicle. The fire in the tanker was extinguished with the efforts of the teams. The highways teams started the cleaning work to prevent the fuel spilled on the road from causing further accidents. Due to the accident, a traffic jam of approximately 5 kilometers formed on the motorway.
