Turkey to Experience Rainy Weather Throughout the Week
Meteorology expert Murat Acar from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Meteorology General Directorate provided information about the expected weather conditions in the country. Acar stated that Turkey will be affected by rain showers coming from the Balkans, with rain expected throughout the country starting from Saturday morning in the Marmara Region. He also mentioned that the rain showers, along with fog, will cause temperatures, which have been above seasonal norms, to drop back to normal levels starting mainly from Sunday in western regions. Strong rainfall is expected in the Marmara and Aegean regions as well as in Antalya. Acar reassured that the expected heavy rainfall is not likely to cause extreme events. Although there is a possibility of snowfall in higher elevations in some regions, major cities like Istanbul are not expected to see snow. Ankara is expected to have temperatures around seasonal norms starting from Tuesday. Istanbul is forecasted to have heavy showers on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, with temperatures remaining around 8 to 10 degrees Celsius during the day. In Izmir, there will be showers with temperatures staying above seasonal norms around 17 to 18 degrees Celsius. Moreover, in inner and eastern regions, high humidity may lead to icing and frost events.
